Underwriter, Casualty lines (Permanent appointment, office based role)

On behalf of my Client I am recruiting for a newly created, Bermuda based position in Underwriting.  Reporting into the Chief Underwriting Officer this position will assist in managing and developing their portfolios of casualty risk.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Negotiating and drafting complex contracts of reinsurance.

  • Writing of underwriting memos (articulating risks).

  • Presentation of risks to senior management, investors and underwriting committees.

  • Working under general direction, on a wide variety of accounts (including complex).

  • Constructing a portfolio aligned with the clients’ preferred risk appetite.

  • Creating and modifying pricing and cashflow models in collaboration with actuaries

Associate, (Permanent appointment, office based role)

On behalf of my Client I invite applications for a newly created, office based role in Bermuda.

 

Supporting their Shareholder Services Team the Associate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Processing of shareholder transactions, ensuring accuracy and consistency with legal requirements.

  • Adhering to controls and processes in line with Shareholder needs, change to policies, regulatory and legislative
    requirements.

  • Serving as a key point of contact to shareholders, professionally and efficiently responding to queries and requests

  • Backend data review and analysis to ensure accuracy of shareholder and management reporting.

  • Assist with the preparation of shareholder reports for the quarterly board meetings.

  • Adhering to transaction timelines including liaison with various departments in Bermuda, UK, and India.

Claims Manager (Permanent appointment, office based role)

On behalf of my Client I invite interest from reinsurance claims professionals who have experience managing casualty claims.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing all aspects of the accurate and timely investigation, quantification and resolution of all claims activity impacting the business.

  • Managing all complex and contentious claims, in compliance with the tax and regulatory operating guidelines.

  • Participating as a member of the Company’s reserve committee, preparing management information and reporting on large and complex loss and events and identify trends as required. Assist the Reserving Actuary with IBNR management.

  • Maintaining appropriate legislative and regulatory knowledge affecting the re/insurance industry.

  • Reviewing, implementing, maintaining, and updating claims procedure documentation ensuring efficiencies and consistency is achieved.

  • Managing key risks affecting the business.

  • Managing workloads across the team including paid to incurred and open claim counts. Performing case reserve reviews as required and reporting any claim trends identified.

  • Assisting the Group Head of Claims in producing management information, including loss activity likely to affect the reputation, financial or legal position of the firm.

  • Advising Underwriters in respect of any requisite policy language evolution.

  • Managing and mentoring of staff, overseeing their training and development requirements and assisting in the achievement of objectives.

  • Establishing and building relationships as required with underwriters, brokers and third parties to enable coverage analysis and policy response.

Claims Analyst (Permanent appointment, office based role)

Reporting to the Chief Claims Officer, the Claims Analyst will be responsible for the technical claim handling and best practice execution for insurance lines of business inclusive of Property (Direct & Facultative), Financial Lines and Casualty. This is a rare opportunity to join a market-leader as they grow and expand their lines of business.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Investigate, adjust and resolve Property (Direct and Facultative), Financial Lines and/or Casualty claims.

  • Evaluate liability and assess damage/losses and prepare & review written evaluations.

  • Process claim transactions and establish timely reserves.

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of exposure to underwriting and management.

  • Participate in individual meetings and training sessions as required.

  • Comply with all department and company guidelines and policies.

  • Build and maintain effective internal and external working relationships.

  • Effectively collaborate with various departments and levels in the organization.

Risk & Compliance Analyst (Permanent appointment, office based role)

Insurance Claims Manager (Permanent appointment, office based role)

On behalf of my Clients, I invite applications from experienced professionals to to be responsible for leading their Insurance Claims team in achieving high standards of productivity, operational efficiency and alignment of organizational goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and monitoring daily claim activities for all Insurance segments, including Excess Casualty, Property and Financial Lines.

  • Providing technical expertise and oversight to staff.

  • Managing claims on assigned accounts, including the review of new and existing claims, including the review of contractual wordings to prepare assessments of coverage.

  • Evaluating actual and potential liability exposures, and recommending accurate and timely reserves.

  • Partnering with team members along with both internal and external counsel to manage litigation in an effective and cost-efficient manner.

  • Managing team member’s performance, development and success.

  • Identifying exposures and claim trends which may affect the portfolios.

  • Collaborating with other functions across the company to provide periodic updates on claims.

  • Preparing management reports and leading of monthly and quarterly claims meetings.

  • Attending external client meetings, broker and networking events as appropriate.

  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements.

  • Providing updates to reinsurers as necessary.

  • Ensuring compliance with internal corporate guidelines, processes and procedures.

Property Maintenance (Part time, contract opportunities)

On behalf of my Clients, I invite applications from experienced professionals to provide first-class property maintenance services for their two-story Bermuda home with gardens, pool and boathouse.


Key home care responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining a good standard of cleanliness throughout the property.

  • Furniture and plant care, handling laundry, ironing, and replenishing linens.

  • Assisting with entertaining by way of food shopping, preparation, table set up and tidy up etc.

  • Taking receipt of packages/shipments on behalf of the Owners.

  • Liaising with relevant service providers such as pest control, HVAC contractors, and dry cleaners etc.


Key external property care responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining a vibrant vegetable garden alongside tending to the gardens / grounds throughout theproperty.

  • Maintaining the patio area and outdoor furniture including the external grill.

  • Ensuring the pool is regularly cleaned and liaising with service providers as needed.

  • Responsible for property storm preparation and maintaining / securing the boathouse and dock area.

  • Managing the care, cleaning, and maintenance of the car, boat and golf carts; plus any additional vehicles.

 

The successful Contractors will have:

  • Proven experience and skills in providing the above listed support services.

  • A strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and use initiative effectively.

  • Excellent previous employer and character references.

  • A clean and valid Bermuda car license.

  • Integrity and honesty - coupled with a friendly disposition.
