Assistant Underwriter, Employee Benefits (Permanent appointment, office based)  

 

Reporting to and supporting the locally based AVP Underwriter, the Assistant Underwriter key responsibilities will include:

  • Responding to queries about coverage and program design changes in a timely manner

  • Being the day-to-day contact between my Client and its Advisors and Global Fronting Partners

  • Providing technical review and challenge of the underwriting submissions and making recommendations to the AVP Underwriter for approval

  • Supporting the AVP Underwriter in expanding participation in the EB program

  • Supporting in delivering the strategy and vision

  • Supporting with financial reporting requirements

  • Adherence to and maintenance of the underwriting function control documentation

  • Assistance in preparation and presentation of management information reports

  • Assistance in preparation of materials for management, board and committee meetings

The preferred candidate will have:

  • A Bachelors Degree in Business, Mathematics, Insurance or Finance (preferred).  Working towards an insurance industry professional qualification (ACII or CPCU preferred)

  • Relevant insurance experience gained, preferably in life and/or medical insurance

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and numerical skills

  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint and Teams

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Working towards an insurance industry professional qualification (ACII or CPCU preferred)

  • Strong interpersonal skills including presentation skills; ability to establish credibility/rapport with stakeholders globally and in a virtual environment

KYC Officer & Company Secretary (Permanent appointment, office based / WFH option)  

 

On behalf of my client, I invite interest from suitably qualified professionals for in a newly created position of KYC Officer & Company Secretary. Our focus is to find a highly motivated individual to establish and maintain a robust framework for responding to external KYC requests, including controls, administrative processes and procedures which are fit for purpose and are compliant with all relevant statutory and legal provisions. In addition, the ideal candidate will be comfortable growing their skills and responsibilities within the wider Company Secretariat function in a fast-paced, dynamic and constantly evolving environment.  Key responsibilities include:

Building and maintaining a robust framework for responding to external KYC requests including:

  • Establishing an end-to-end process to systematically respond to KYC requests efficiently, which will require an extensive knowledge of the company structure and its underlying corporate records and documentation.

  • Building relationships with various teams across the business to ensure efficient coordination of KYC requests from their partners, counterparties and suppliers.

  • Designing and maintaining a repository of ‘golden source’ company templates, records and documentation and agreed form responses to KYC requests.


Contributing to the Company Secretariat function including:

  • Maintaining all the corporate records and transactional documentation in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Assisting with opening of bank accounts and maintenance of authorised signatory lists.

  • Ensuring that the compliance obligations under relevant laws and the requirements of regulatory authorities are met (including compliance with applicable AML and KYC requirements).

  • Scheduling and conducting of board and committee meetings, including preparation of meeting packs and drafting detailed and accurate minutes of meetings.

  • Working closely with other company secretarial groups both within (and outside of) the International organisations.

  • Advising company directors and others within the business on constitutional matters and group governance policies.

  • Supporting and promoting governance “best practices” throughout the business.

  • Arranging for the execution and retention of documents in accordance with the relevant governance structures; and overseeing document management, control and retention for all Bermuda-based entities.

Finance Accountant (Permanent appointment, office based)  

 

On behalf of my Insurance focused client I invite applications for the newly created role of Finance Accountant to join their team on island.  This role will primarily be responsible for the day to day management and preparation of insurance program financial transactions, statements and reporting:

​

  • Prepare the insurance policy invoicing and monitor collections and outstanding premium receivables.

  • Prepare and post monthly insurance technical transactions.

  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements, regulatory returns and information for rating agencies.

  • Monitor and report on the outward reinsurance program.

  • Collate claim report for reinsurance recovery calculations.

  • Complete bank reconciliations and review expense and cash entries prepared by the accounts assistant.

  • Reconcile the investment portfolio and post the monthly results.

  • Complete the intragroup recharges.

  • Report and monitor collateral requirements.

  • Ensure the investment monitoring systems are up to date and in compliance.

  • Complete banking wires and account user administration.

  • Create new GL fields as required.

  • Assist in the development of management information; and participate in other projects as requested. 

​

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Relevant re/insurance industry accounting experience.

  • Proven organization and analytical skills.

  • Ability to prioritize deadlines.

  • Strong technical skills using MS Excel and PowerPoint - with the proficiency to analyze large amounts of complex data. Experience with GL querying tools - SUN systems experience advantageous.
